What is a Domain Name?
Answer
The "address" or URL of a particular Web site. This is also how you describe the name that is at the right of the @ sign in an Internet address. For example, statechwebdesign.com is the domain name of this website. There is an organization called Statech that registers domain names for a small fee and keeps people from registering the same name.
Additional Info:
A web domain is a unique address that directs the user to your online website account that is being hosted. The web domain is the link from the user to your website. Like a house address, once you have found the door you can enter the house to have a look around. Web Domains will always be unique and no duplicates can be made. the "http://www." part of the website is standard and stands for "Hyper Text Transfer Protocol" and "World Wide Web" the second part is normally the business name or has some relevence to the website, in our case it's our business name and our main service "Statech Web Design" the final part is called the Extension. These are normally .Com, .Co.uk, .Net, .Info, .Biz or .Org. These three things make up your Web Address.
